Pian delle Betulle (1501 m) is a mountain resort in the
Alta Valsassina , in the municipality of Margno. Surrounded by the mountains of Lake Como, it is still inhabited all year round by a small group of residents, who reach it by cable car from the town of Margno.
In fact,
cars cannot arrive here: Pian delle Betulle can be reached in 5 minutes by cable car from Margno (timetables and costs info on the website
www.pianidibobbio.com ), or on foot in 20 minutes from Alpe di Paglio or still in on foot in 1 hour and a half starting from Margno or Crandola.
Over the years, Pian delle Betulle has earned the nickname of
the Last Paradise : an isolated and peaceful place, where nature has always been respected and preserved, with its alpine lake, the characteristic little church of the Alpini and the small houses harmoniously integrated into the landscape.
Surrounded by beautiful beech and birch woods and dominated by Monte Cimone (1800m), it is frequented by tourists and hikers throughout the year.
From here you can enjoy splendid views of the surrounding peaks and, on clear days, the view extends as far as Lake Como and Lugano and further on as far as the Monte Rosa chain and the Alpine peaks.
